This Project was made as a part of the Design Hackathon conducted by Lollypop Design Studio- Bangalore, celebrating the world Design Day on 13th & 14th April 2018.
We were divided into teams to work on a solution for a problem statement with-in a span on 12 continuous hours all night. The problem statement was in tune with the Karnataka Vidhan Sabha elections 2018.
Discovering the Problem
India is the largest democratic country in the world. Democracy is defined as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. So, in democracy the people are the ultimate source of power and its success and failure depend on their wisdom, consciousness and vigilance.
It is not possible for all the people in a big country like India to participate in the government. This is why they are required to exercise their franchise and elect their representatives at regular intervals.
There are certain conditions that are necessary for the success of Democracy in India.

A major problem with Indian democracy is that people, while voting at various levels make their choices only based on the party or its leader. They don't seriously validate the person they are voting for - whether it is for the post of Mayor, MLA or MP. Democracy needs to work bottom-up where we would not want to get influenced by a particular ideology.
It's better to consider all candidates and not be biased. Go through their political history, criminal history, educational background, election manifesto etc. Keep abreast of what's going on before election time to pick our eligible candidate.

Design brief
To improve transparency in the political system while resolving civic issues reported by citizens and to build a community of informed citizens in our society.
Goals
1. Enable citizens to file a complaint for any civic issues in the community.
2. Information about the civic authorities & elected representatives based on location.
3. Enable citizens to rate & review actions taken by concerned authorities.
User needs
1. To enable users with multiple regional languages.
2. Users to have a choice to post anonymously. (With limitations)
3. Recognition & transparency of elected representatives work.
4. A non-governmental unbiased body to be application's moderator.
5. Notification on updates about his complaint/request.
6. Avoid duplication of complaints.
Competitive analysis
Understanding & evaluating the other applications which are in the similar space. A secondary research on the usability analysis.
Key Insights
1. Most of these apps are monitored by government agencies and hence there isn't transparency in the whole process.
2. No tracking facility to know the status of the complaint.
3. Requires personal information to be shared before viewing getting to know what's inside the application. Thus, greatly reducing trust factor.
